BIOGRAPHY

I always wanted to be a trapeze artist because it looked so much fun. However, I wasn't a driven or ambitious child and contentedly filed the dream away in the unrealistic drawer along with my slight inkling to be an astronaut or maybe a hollywood star.

Decades later in July 2014 and perfectly happy with my life in general, I saw Circus-Naomi teaching static trapeze to children in the kid's field at Tropical Pressure festival at Mount Pleasant Eco Park. I thought "How lucky they are, I would have loved that" and wandered off to get a cup of tea.

But, the tea tent had flyers advertising private lessons lying right there on the table and at the age of 37 I thought "Well, it's now or never" and so I made the effort. I thought it would be a bit of fun.

I had three private lessons, joined the weekly drop in class in Redruth, then I joined the Falmouth one too. I got good enough to make my debut in the circus show at Tropical Pressure the following year, the most nerve-wracking thing I've ever done.

Since then Circus-Naomi has taken me all over the country performing at various festivals and I've had the best time ever.

I also occasionally assist with teaching at the Airfish Academy and helping others achieve things they never dreamed of is just as rewarding.

I'm going to be 40 this year. This is not how I imagined I would spend my 40th year and I am so glad that, on that day 2 years ago, I decided I would make an effort because life is short and sometimes it's awesome!
